70x the antioxidants of orange juice and 9x the beta-carotene of spinach!
Antioxidants are found in many foods including fruits and vegetables. There are many types of antioxidants, however, the class known as catechins are only found in green tea, and these may be the most potent of all. And of the catechins, EGCG (epicgallocatechin gallate) is the catechin with broadest and most potent properties. Sixty percent of the catechin content of matcha is EGCG.

Rich in vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene as well as rich in the minerals potassium, manganese and magnesium. Blueberries provide antioxidants anthocyanins, chlorogenic acid, pterostilbene, ellagic acid as well as catechins and resveratrol.
Research, as published in the Journal of Medicine in 2009, evidence suggests that anthocyanins and anthocyanidins may possess analgesic properties in addition to neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory activities.
A Japanese study discovered that daily consumption of tea containing 690mg catechins for 12 weeks reduced body fat, which suggests that the ingestion of catechins might be useful in the prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases, mainly obesity.

In study after study, cranberries are coming out at or near the top of the antioxidant heap. They are particularly rich in polyphenols, and have a lot of other helpful phytochemicals as well. These chemicals probably explain some of the studies showing cranberries' health benefits, including prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections, help prevent bacteria from causing food-borne illness, may help prevent tooth decay, may help prevent arteriosclerosis, may improves blood vessel function in people with arteriosclerosis, may help raise HDL (good) cholesterol or lower LDL (bad) cholesterol.

Source of bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids are powerful antioxidants, helping the body to fight the damaging and aging effects of free radicals. One of the most powerful bioflavonoids is leucoanthocyanin. Large concentrations of this bioflavonoid are found in the seeds of the purple grape, making grape seed extract an excellent antioxidant as well as a free radical scavenger. The leucoanthocyanins in grape seed extract may improve the strength of the blood vessels, including varicose veins. They have also shown to suppress allergy symptoms by inhibiting the release of histamines into the tissues, to improve vision while helping prevent age-related and diabetic cataracts and to maintain youthful skin tone by helping repair damaged collagen.

High antioxidant and vitamin content. In particular, they're very rich in Vitamin C. Black currants also contain several rare nutrients, like GLA (Gamma Linoleic Acid, Omega-6 essential fatty acid) and MAOI (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors).
A study published in the Journal of Nutrition suggests that GLA may be unique among the omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (linoleic acid, GLA and arachidonic acid) in its potential to suppress tumor growth and metastasis.

Contains very high in punicalagin and anthocyanin content. Punicalagin is an extremely potent antioxidant found to be responsible for the fruit's superior health benefits. They are also a good source of vitamin B (riboflavin, thiamin and niacin), vitamin C, calcium and phosphorus.
A study published in 2009 by the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Jagiellonian University, Poland, showed that punicalagins have a positive effect upon gut flora. Researchers found it inhibited the growth of pathogenic gut flora clostridia and Staphylococcus aureus in human subjects. While this alone can improve our immune system and digestive health, they also significantly enhanced the growth good flora, bifidobacterium breve and bifidobacterium infantis.

A dietary fiber, apple pectin is helpful in maintaining good digestive health. Researchers at the University of California, Davis, found that apple pectin also acts as an antioxidant against the damaging portion of cholesterol in the blood stream. It has been established that a diet rich in apple pectin may help protect against certain diseases. Research in Japan supports that apple pectin can also decrease the chances of colon cancer. Apple pectin helps maintain intestinal balance by cleansing the intestinal tract with its soluble and insoluble fibers.

Red ginseng contains ginsenosides and saponins as active ingredients. In addition to ginsenosides, red ginseng also contains glycans (panaxans), polysaccharide fraction DPG-3-2, peptides, maltol, B vitamins, flavonoids, and volatile oil. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine Panax Ginseng promotes Yang energy, improves circulation, increases blood supply, revitalizes and aids recovery from weakness after illness, and stimulates the body. These beliefs have been reinforced by numerous scientific studies. Among its benefits it is believed to enhance the immune system, possibly helping the body fight off infection and disease as well as it helps the body fight off free radicals.
Athletes often take red ginseng to boost both endurance and strength and it has been found to reduce fatigue.

A species of small, woody shrub in the family Araliaceae native to Northeastern Asia. In Chinese medicine it is known as "ci wu jia". It is commonly called eleuthero, and was previously marketed in the United States as Siberian Ginseng. Eleuthero active ingredients that have been most studied are the eleutherosides. Seven primary eleutherosides have been identified, with most of the research attention focusing on eleutherosides B and E. Eleuthero also contains complex polysaccharides (complex sugar molecules). These constituents may play a critical role in eleuthero's ability to support immune function. Eleuthero is an "adaptogen" (an agent that helps the body adapt to stress). It is thought to help support adrenal gland function when the body is challenged by stress.
Eleuthero has been shown to enhance mental acuity and physical endurance without the letdown that comes with caffeinated products.
Research has shown that eleuthero improves the use of oxygen by the exercising muscle. This means that a person is able to maintain aerobic exercise longer and recover from workouts more quickly.

Açaí berry grows in the Amazon river regions of South America. Native people of that area used the Açaí berries as a source of nutrition but also as a source for healing sicknesses and in topical applications as well. Açaí berry was tested for its ORAC value and was found to be astonishing. It had some of the highest ORAC values of all edible plants! Açaí berry is full of antioxidants, monounsaturated fats, essential amino acids, protein, broad selection of vitamins and minerals and a dietary fiber. Its benefits are many and range from reducing inflammation and swelling to improving vision and mental focus.

Used for 6,000 years by herbalists in China, Tibet and India to to protect the liver, help eyesight, improve sexual function and fertility, strengthen the legs, boost immune function, improve circulation and promote longevity. It is rich in antioxidants, particularly carotenoids such as beta-carotene and zeaxanthin. Research has also shown that Goji berry is a great source of polysaccharides that are necessary for immune system function.

For centuries, those in Southeast Asia have revered the mangosteen, both for its flavor and the suggestion that it promotes good health. The whole mangosteen fruit, especially the xanthone-packed pericarp or rind, has been used traditionally to treat a variety of health conditions, actually. As early as 600 AD, scribes recorded the use of the mangosteen in the support and maintenance of good health. Mangosteen fruit is rich in xanthones, which may promote healthy bodily function. In addition, mangosteen contains fiber.

A species of holly (family Aquifoliaceae) native to subtropical South America in northeastern Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and southern Brazil. The infusion called mate is prepared by steeping dry leaves (and twigs) of yerba mate in hot water, rather than in boiling water like some teas. Drinking mate with friends from a shared hollow gourd (also called a guampa or mate in Spanish, or cabaca or cuia in Portuguese) with a metal straw (a bombilla in Spanish, bomba in Portuguese) is a common social practice in South America. Mate contains three xanthines: caffeine, theobromine and theophylline. Preliminary evidence that the mate xanthine cocktail is different from other plants containing caffeine most significantly in its effects on muscle tissue, as opposed to those on the central nervous system, which are similar to those of other natural stimulants.
The three xanthines present in mate have been shown to have a relaxing effect on smooth muscle tissue, and a stimulating effect on myocardial (heart) tissue. Mate also contains elements such as potassium, magnesium and manganese.

A great source of vitamins A, D, E and K and also provides significant amounts of calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, and potassium. It contains more protein than most plants. Alfalfa also provides eight essential amino acids. Herbalists have dubbed it the "Great Healer." Since alfalfa contains hundreds of biologically active compounds, it is difficult to analyze and determine exactly what benefits may result from any particular element. In Chinese and Ayurvedic (Indian) medicine alfalfa has been traditionally used for digestive problems for thousands of years. The primary attributes attributed to alfalfa are as an anti-inflammatory, diuretic, nutritive, phytoestrogenic and tonic.

Research has shown many health benefits for beets. However, one of the most significant is to improve blood circulation. The beet has the power to lower the acidity level in the blood which is important for health, plus it helps get rid of impurities in the blood so it can flow more easily through the arteries and deliver only oxygen and nutrients to the cells. Beets are also a good source of many nutrients, including folic acid.

Grown only in a small area in the region of the Western Cape province of South Africa. It has potent antioxidant, immune-modulating and chemopreventive effects.
Traditional medicinal uses of rooibos in South Africa include alleviating infantile colic, allergies, asthma and dermatological problems. Rooibos is becoming more popular in western countries particularly among health-conscious consumers, due to its high level of antioxidants such as aspalathin and nothofagin, its lack of caffeine, and its low tannin levels compared to fully oxidized black tea or un-oxidized green tea leaves. Rooibos also contains a number of phenolic compounds, including Aspalathin, Nothofagin, Caffeic Acid, Chrysoeriol, Isoquercitrin, Orientin, Isoorientin, Luteolin, Vitexin, Isovitexin, Luteolin, Rutin, Flavonoids, Quercetin, Polyphenols . It is also the only known source of the phytochemical Aspalathin. Rooibos may assist with nervous tension, allergies and digestive problems.

Commonly known as "sweet leaf", sweet leaf, sugar leaf, or simply stevia, is widely grown for its sweet leaves. For centuries, the tribes of Paraguay, Bolivia and Brazil used stevia, which they called ka'a he'e ("sweet herb"), as a sweetener in yerba mate and medicinal teas for treating heartburn and other ailments. With its extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, stevia has garnered attention with the rise in demand for low-carbohydrate, low-sugar food alternatives. Medical research has also shown possible benefits of stevia in treating obesity and high blood pressure. Because stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose, it is attractive as a natural sweetener to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets.

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for humans and certain other animal species, in which it functions as a vitamin. In living organisms, ascorbate is an antioxidant, since it protects the body against oxidative stress. It is also a cofactor in at least eight enzymatic reactions, including several collagen synthesis reactions. Trauma or injury has also been demonstrated to use up large quantities of vitamin C in humans.

Matcha means "Rubbed or Ground Tea" and is the Japanese term for the precious powdered green tea, traditionally reserved for the Japanese Tea Ceremony (Sado).
The process of manufacturing premium Matcha begins with choosing the right place for the cultivation of the tea plants (Camellia sinensis). The soil and climatic conditions play a key role in the final flavor and nutritional value of the tea. The very best Matcha is said to be that from the Uji region of Kyoto. The mountainous region provides the perfect high altitude climate and the morning mists of the two rivers of the region add just the right amount of moisture needed for the cultivation of tea. Kyoto is a city with a rich history and culture. It is the place where "The Way of Tea" (Sado) was formed and refined and where it is still, to this day, an integral part of the culture.
The Matcha tea plants are shaded from direct sunlight for about 8 weeks before harvest. The results are higher chlorophyll and L-Theanine contents and a richer, greener color. L-Theanine is an amino acid specific to green tea that provides unique health benefits and sweetness in flavor. It is the main reason why high quality green teas taste less astringent and bitter and are more pleasant to the pallet. It also helps to reduce stress and induce a state of calm, relaxed alertness.
The different types of Japanese tea are commonly graded depending on the quality and the parts of the plant used. High quality Matcha is always hand-picked to assure that only the unopened tea bud and the accompanying finest, top two leaves are chosen. The tea-leaves selected to become Matcha are called Tencha. The leaves are then carefully steamed to prevent the nutrients from oxidation and keep the tea fresh and green. After that, all the rough fiber, such as stems and veins, are removed to assure the fine powdery consistency and the sweet flavor typical for a great Matcha. The Tencha leaves are then slowly ground up in traditional granite stone-grinders to a very fine, talc-like powder Matcha.
Since Matcha is extremely prone to loosing nutrients, color and freshness by being exposed to light or air, proper storage and packaging is crucial to assure highest quality.
You can tell the quality and freshness of Matcha by the color, the flavor and by how well it mixes.
The higher the quality:
- the greener and more vibrant is the color (for both the powder and the prepared cup)
- the sweeter it will taste
- the fuller the flavor
- the "greener" the flavor
Different leaves yes, but actually different tea fields entirely. Tea leaves destined for our matcha have to satisfy a number of organic regulations, such as containing no herbicides or pesticides, using only natural fertilizers, protecting the fields from environmental contaminants, using only natural pest control methods, keeping strict log books and more.
Non organic matcha doesn't have to go through all these regulations although it is still very "clean". We test every batch for chemical residue and there is never any detection of herbicide or pesticide residue.

- Boost metabolism by up to 40% in regular consumers and help control body weight

FIX is based on the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and contains a type of caffeine sometimes referred to as Theine. Since Matcha consists of the entire tea-leaves in a powdered form, it is relatively high in caffeine. With one heaping teaspoon of Matcha (about 3 grams) you consume about 70 mg of caffeine, which is a similar to the amount in a cup of coffee.
Due to its unique combination of phytonutrients, the caffeine in FIX is assimilated in a very different and much healthier way. The caffeine binds to the larger catechin molecules, that also act as powerful antioxidants, and is released into the bloodstream slowly over time, as the catechins are broken down and assimilated. The results are "time released'" smaller dosages of caffeine that provide sustained energy for up to 6 to 8 hours. This mechanism also prevents the insulin and adrenalin spikes typical for coffee intake, so you never have to experience the "low" that follows when the blood sugar drops.
Potential negative effects are also balanced by the calming influence of the amino acid L-Theanine. The relaxing effects of L-Theanine act antagonistically against the stimulatory effects of caffeine on the nervous system thus smoothing the body's reaction and leading to an experience of dynamic bliss. The combined effect is a state of mental clarity, calm alertness and sustained energy.
FIX contains a type of caffeine and should therefore be consumed only in moderation during pregnancy. Please always consult your doctor regarding caffeine and FIX consumption during pregnancy.
The tea bags are not as potent as the FIX powder simply because you are not ingesting the entire leaf as you do with the powder, you end up throwing the steeped leaves in the compost or garbage.
